KnetterTek grew out of a long-standing fascination with 'strangeness' and how it can be processed into creations that reflect the madness of our society in a pleasantly deranged way. A parallel universe, where people would rather be animals and vice versa, where Jesus regularly comes into contact with monkeys, monsters and aliens, and where everything should not be taken too seriously.
Generative Artificial Intelligence – Culmination of the Interplay of Creativity and Technology?
I graduated as a clinical psychologist, and during those studies I was confronted with the limitations and oppression that often come with a traditional, problem-oriented approach to mental well-being. I could identify more with an anti-psychiatric view, that mental disorders are often 'normal' reactions to the pressure and madness of society. That is why I focused on creativity during my internship and thesis, a view that I further developed in my career in healthcare.
In my spare time I was able to put that view into practice. First I specialized in multi-layered stencil technique (you can see these stencil paintings here), after which I increasingly started to use technology to develop my creations. I learned to work with a laser cutter, 3D printer and VR headset, but it is mainly the rise of artificial intelligence that has had a major influence on my creativity in recent years.
Awareness of the use of artificial intelligence and its impact on our society is very important to me. Copyright legislation is still unclear, the ecological impact is huge, jobs are threatened, the distinction between reality and fiction is becoming increasingly blurred... Generative A.I. is a very powerful technology and can certainly be abused. These risks lead to resistance, negativity and fear in many people, and although I have a lot of understanding for that, I do not want to be deterred by it. A common criticism is also that A.I. would be a threat to human creativity, but in my experience that is not the case. For me, A.I. is a step in an evolution of technology that can enhance my creativity, and I am committed to using this technology in the best possible way.
